1. Who can be a creator
- You must be at least 18 years old, and at least the age of majority where you live if that is higher.
- You must be legally able to enter into these Creator Terms.
- You must not be prevented by law or by a previous Sonoroo decision from creating content or receiving earnings.
2. Your creator account
A creator profile is linked to one verified person. Your public handle and display name must not impersonate anyone or mislead listeners. You are responsible for everything published from your account and must keep your sign-in details secure.
3. Identity and age verification
Before you can publish or monetize content you must complete identity and age verification. Verification is carried out with a specialist third-party identity verification provider; Sonoroo receives the verification outcome rather than copies of your documents.
We may ask you to verify again, and we may pause publishing or monetization while a verification is pending, expired or under review. Providing false documents or information, or verifying on behalf of someone else, is prohibited. See the Age, Identity & Consent Policy.
4. Accepting these Creator Terms
Before you can submit recordings, you must accept the current version of these Creator Terms in Creator Studio, including the content, age, identity and consent requirements. We record the version you accepted and when you accepted it.
If we publish a new version that requires acceptance, you will be asked to accept it before you submit further recordings. Recordings already published stay subject to the version in force when they were published, except where the new version says otherwise or the law requires.
5. Your obligations
As a creator you must:
- comply with applicable law;
- not upload illegal content;
- not upload non-consensual sexual content;
- not upload any content involving minors;
- not upload content involving trafficking, exploitation or coercion;
- own, or hold all rights needed for, everything you upload — see the Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy;
- follow the single-participant rule in section 6;
- comply with Sonoroo’s moderation decisions;
- provide truthful identity and age information.
You are solely responsible for every recording, title and description you publish. What may and may not be published is set out in the Content & Community Guidelines and the Anti-Trafficking & Child Safety Policy, which form part of these Creator Terms.
6. Your own voice only
Unless Sonoroo has explicitly enabled a participant-verification process and it has been completed for a recording, a recording may contain only your own voice and performance as the verified creator.
- No other person may be heard, featured, participating or recorded in your content — whether as a co-performer, in conversation, in the background, or in recorded or sampled audio you add.
- Your voice must be your own: not a synthetic, cloned or altered imitation of another real person.
- Recordings in which another person appears to be heard are rejected at review, or removed if found later.
Sonoroo does not offer participant verification at launch. The requirements that would apply to other participants are described in the Age, Identity & Consent Policy.
7. Ownership and licence to Sonoroo
You keep ownership of your content. You grant Sonoroo a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, process (including transcription, preview creation and format conversion), display and make your content available to users of the Platform, and to use short excerpts, titles and your public profile to operate and promote your content on Sonoroo.
The licence ends when you remove content or close your account, except for copies we must keep for legal, safety, dispute or record-keeping purposes, and except for access already granted to listeners who unlocked the recording while it was available, as far as the law permits.
8. Moderation
Every recording is reviewed by a moderator before it is published; nothing is published without that approval. To help reviewers, uploads are transcribed automatically and the transcript is screened for words that may indicate a problem. This screening only flags recordings for the moderator — it never approves or publishes anything.
Published recordings can be reviewed again at any time, including after a report. We may decline, restrict or remove content, and suspend creator features, where content breaches these Creator Terms, our policies or the law. You agree to cooperate with reasonable moderation and compliance requests, including requests for information about a recording.
9. Free and premium recordings, and Gems pricing
You choose whether each recording is free or premium. Listeners can hear a preview of premium recordings and unlock the full recording with Gems.
You set the Gems price for each premium recording within the range supported by the Platform. The price is fixed once the recording is submitted for publication. A listener who has unlocked a recording keeps access without paying again.
10. Creator earnings
You earn 80% of the Net Receipts attributable to the Gems spent on your premium recordings. Sonoroo retains the remaining 20%.
- Earnings are recorded in fiat currency. Creators do not receive Gems, Coins or any other creator token.
- Net Receipts are the amounts Sonoroo actually receives for the Gems used in an unlock, after applicable deductions such as taxes, payment-processing costs and fees where these apply and are known.
- Gems do not have a fixed cash value. Package prices, volume discounts, taxes, payment costs and currency can differ, so the same number of Gems can carry a different value depending on the purchase they came from. Gems are attributed oldest-first.
- Gems that a listener did not purchase (for example promotional or administrative Gems) carry no Net Receipts and generate no earnings.
- Each earning is calculated when the unlock happens and recorded with its amount and status. Later changes to pricing or revenue share do not change earnings already recorded.
11. Pending earnings and adjustments
New earnings are recorded as Pending and are shown in Creator Studio. A Pending earning is a record of an amount attributed to you; it is not yet a payable balance.
Where a purchase is legitimately refunded, reversed or charged back, or an unlock is found to be fraudulent or in breach of our policies, the related earnings may be adjusted through a corresponding correction. Corrections are recorded as separate entries; we do not silently rewrite your history.
12. Payouts
Payout functionality is not yet available. When it is introduced, we will publish the applicable payout terms before it applies.
Receiving payouts may require additional identity, tax and compliance checks by Sonoroo and by the payment or payout provider used at that time, and may be unavailable in some countries. We do not promise any payout date, frequency or method until those terms are published.
13. Suspension and termination
We may suspend publishing, monetization or your account, remove content, or withhold earnings connected to the issue, where we reasonably believe you have breached these Creator Terms or our policies, where verification fails or lapses, to investigate fraud or harm, or where the law requires it. Where appropriate and lawful we will explain the decision and how to contact us about it.
You may stop publishing and remove your content at any time. Earnings already recorded remain subject to these Creator Terms and to the payout terms once published.
