1. Adults only
- Listeners and creators must be at least 18 years old.
- Every person heard in creator content must have been at least 18 when recorded.
- Content must not present anyone heard in it as being under 18.
2. Creator identity and age verification
Creators must complete identity and age verification with a third-party verification provider, and accept the Creator Terms, before submitting recordings, and may be asked to verify again. An account may only be verified by the person who operates it, and the identity and age information a creator provides must be truthful.
3. Who may be heard in a recording
Unless Sonoroo has explicitly enabled a participant-verification process and it has been completed for a recording, a recording may contain only the verified creator’s own voice and performance. Sonoroo does not offer participant verification at launch, so third-party human participants and voices are not permitted.
- No other person may be heard, featured, participating or recorded — as a co-performer, in conversation, in the background, or in recorded or sampled audio.
- A creator’s voice must be their own, not a synthetic, cloned or altered imitation of another real person.
- Moderators reject or escalate any recording in which another person appears to be heard, and such recordings are removed if found after publication.
4. If participant verification is introduced
If Sonoroo later enables participant verification, another person may be heard in a recording only after they have completed it for that recording, and only if the creator has, before publishing:
- confirmed the person’s identity and that they are an adult;
- obtained their consent to the recording;
- obtained their consent to publication and monetization on Sonoroo;
- secured any rights needed to use their contribution; and
- kept records of their age, identity and consent.
We will update this policy and the Creator Terms before any such process applies.
5. Requests for information
Sonoroo may ask a creator for information about a recording — including who is heard in it and their consent — for moderation, compliance or investigation purposes. Content may be restricted until satisfactory information is provided, and failure to provide it may lead to removal and account action.
6. If you are featured without consent
If your voice, identity or likeness, or your participation in a recording, is featured in Sonoroo content and you did not consent, or no longer consent, you can ask for it to be removed. The procedure — including how consent is reviewed and when content is removed — is in Report Abuse.
7. False information and impersonation
Using false, altered or someone else’s documents, misrepresenting anyone’s age or identity, or impersonating another person — including with a synthetic or cloned voice — is prohibited and leads to account closure and, where appropriate, referral to competent authorities.
