A wallet is an app that holds your crypto and lets you send it. A self-custody wallet like Phantom is yours alone: no exchange can freeze it, and nobody — including Sonoroo — can recover it for you if you lose your recovery phrase. This guide uses Phantom as the example; Solflare and other Solana wallets work the same way.

Set it up

  1. Install Phantom from phantom.com or your phone’s official app store. Fake wallet apps exist — check the publisher.
  2. Choose “Create a new wallet”.
  3. Write down the 12-word recovery phrase on paper and keep it somewhere safe. It is the master key to your money.
  4. Set a password or Face ID for the app.
Never share your recovery phrase. No real support team — not Phantom, not Sonoroo — will ever ask for it.

Receive USDT or USDC

  1. Tap Receive and choose Solana. Copy your address (it starts with a letter or number and is 32–44 characters long).
  2. Paste it into your exchange’s withdrawal form and pick the Solana network.
  3. The coins appear in Phantom, usually within a minute.

Keep a little SOL for fees

Every Solana transaction pays a network fee in SOL — usually a tiny fraction of a cent. Sending a token to an address for the first time can cost a little more. A dollar’s worth of SOL covers many payments.

Send

  1. Tap Send and choose the coin.
  2. Paste the recipient address and the exact amount.
  3. Check the network is Solana, review, and confirm.

Swap between USDT and USDC

Phantom has a built-in Swap: choose what you have and what you want, check the rate and fee, and confirm. Useful if you hold one stablecoin and need the other.

Always send on the network shown at checkout. Tokens sent on a different network (for example USDT on Ethereum or TRON to a Solana address) can’t be recovered.
